Connecting Postmark to AI: taking delivery seriously when nobody is watching
Postmark can be connected to AI with a token from your own account. The assistant can send post from a confirmed sender address, show which addresses bounce and give delivery and open rates over a period. That bounce list is the most valuable part in practice: a hard bounce means the address does not exist and belongs out of your file. Sending genuinely goes out and happens only on request.
What the assistant takes from Postmark and does in it
Send post that has to arrive
The assistant drafts the message and sends it to the recipient you name, from a sender address confirmed in Postmark. An address unknown there is refused, so nothing goes out under a name that is not yours.
Use your own templates
Instead of free text the assistant can use a Postmark template and fill in the details that differ per message. Layout and fixed sentences then stay managed in one place.
See which addresses bounce
The assistant retrieves the bounces, filtered by kind or by a specific address if you want. It is quickly clear which recipients are no longer reached and whether that is temporary or final.
Delivery over a period
Over the period you specify the assistant shows how much post was sent, delivered and opened. A drop is visible at once rather than when customers start mentioning it.
Where delivery genuinely counts
Healthcare
- Situation
- Appointment confirmations go out automatically, but people fail to show up saying they received nothing.
- What the agent does
- The assistant retrieves the bounces of the recent period and picks out the addresses that definitively do not exist.
- Result
- A short list of records where the email address has to be corrected, instead of a suspicion.
Customer service
- Situation
- A customer says they never received the invoice and now wants an explanation.
- What the agent does
- The assistant checks whether a bounce is known for that address and what delivery looked like in that period.
- Result
- A factual answer on the phone, instead of promising that somebody will look into it.
Finance administration
- Situation
- Reminders on outstanding invoices seem to have less effect than last year.
- What the agent does
- The assistant sets the delivery and open rates of both periods side by side and checks whether bounces have increased.
- Result
- Clarity on whether the file is the problem or the wording of the reminder.
Membership organisation
- Situation
- The member file has grown for years and nobody knows which addresses still hold.
- What the agent does
- The assistant retrieves the hard bounces and delivers them as a clean-up list for the membership system.
- Result
- A file that is smaller but usable, and post that arrives reliably again.
How you get it running
-
1
Connect with your own token
The connector uses a token from your own Postmark account. Your administrator can revoke it at any moment, which stops access immediately.
-
2
Choose sender and stream
Postmark keeps transactional post and newsletters in separate streams. You connect the stream that fits the purpose and record the confirmed sender address, so the assistant does not deviate from it.
-
3
Who may ask for what
You decide which roles may use the assistant and whether sending is part of that. Many organisations start with the bounces and the figures alone, because they touch nothing.
-
4
Put it to work
From then on anyone with a question about delivery can go straight to IntraGPT. The log keeps which action was taken, when, and what it produced.
Bounce data is personal data
A bounce list is a list of email addresses of real people, and sending touches their mailbox. Both call for an agreement beforehand, not a setting afterwards.
Where the data lives: Nederland of de EU
Only a confirmed sender
Post goes out from a sender address confirmed in your Postmark account. The assistant cannot choose a different address.
Review bounces, do not export them
The assistant can request the bounces to answer a question. The clean-up itself happens in the system where you manage those addresses, by someone responsible for it.
Nothing goes out unseen
Before sending, the assistant shows the recipient and the full text. Without an explicit request it sends nothing, and a sent message cannot be recalled.
Processing on your own server
Drafting the post and reading the figures happens on our own server in the Netherlands with open-weight models. No external model provider gets to see your addresses or texts, and no training happens on them.
Questions about the Postmark connector
Can I connect Postmark to ChatGPT?
That would place access to your sending environment and to a list of email addresses with a public service, without roles and without an audit log. IntraGPT keeps the access in your own environment, lets you decide per role who may ask for what and records what happened. The model runs on our own server.
Does IntraGPT work with Postmark?
Yes. Postmark sits in the catalogue as a working integration. The assistant can send a transactional message, request the bounces and show delivery and open rates over a period, using a token from your own account.
What exactly does a hard bounce mean?
A hard bounce means the address does not exist: the receiving mail server says there is nobody behind it. Trying again does not change that. Such an address belongs out of your file, because continuing to send to addresses that do not exist harms the reputation of the whole domain and with it the delivery of all your other post. A soft bounce is temporary, a full mailbox for instance, and usually resolves itself.
May we send our newsletter through the transactional stream?
No, and that is not a formality. Postmark deliberately keeps transactional post and bulk post apart because they carry different expectations: a password mail is always expected, a newsletter is not. Mixing them lets a poorly received newsletter drag down the delivery of your important post. Use the matching stream or a marketing package for campaigns.
Can the assistant remove a bounced address from our list?
It shows which addresses bounce, but the clean-up happens in the system those addresses come from, your CRM or membership administration for instance. That is deliberate: removing an address is a decision about somebody's record. The assistant delivers the list and a human makes the correction, possibly with a connector to that system alongside.
What is a confirmed sender address?
Postmark sends only from an address or domain you have confirmed there as yours. That prevents anyone from sending post that looks like it came from you. If it has not been done, Postmark refuses the send and the assistant gets an error instead of a delivered message.
What does a Postmark connector cost?
The connector is part of the project we run together. What drives the work is whether you only look or also send, how many streams and templates are involved and which roles may have mail sent. Usage at Postmark itself runs through your own account there.
How long does setup take?
If the sender address is already confirmed at Postmark, the connector works quickly and can be tried the same day. If that still has to happen, you wait for it. Beyond that the time goes into choosing the right stream and agreeing who may have mail sent.
