Connecting Ahrefs to AI: ask for keywords and links without diving into the tool
Ahrefs can be connected to AI. For a domain or a single page the agent retrieves the authority score, the referring links and the keywords it ranks for organically, with a country attached. The connector only reads, so nothing changes in your Ahrefs account and no projects are created.
What the agent can look up about a domain
The authority of a domain
The authority score of a domain, and that of a single page. Useful for judging how heavily a competitor weighs or what a link from a particular site is worth.
Who links to a site
The referring links to a domain or a page, with the site they come from. The agent asks for a limited number, sorted by what matters, instead of a list nobody reads.
Keywords a site ranks for
The organic keywords of a domain, per country. That is the fastest way to see where a competitor's traffic comes from and which subjects are missing on your side.
Two sites side by side
Because every question is about one domain, the agent can ask the same question about a competitor and compare the outcomes. The gaps in a content plan usually fall out of that by themselves.
Questions this answers
Marketing
- Situation
- A content plan for next quarter has to be made and nobody knows where the gaps are.
- What the agent does
- The agent retrieves the organic keywords of two competitors and puts them next to those of your own site.
- Result
- A list of subjects the competitor ranks for and your own site does not, as a basis for the planning.
Management
- Situation
- In a meeting the question comes up how strong the own domain is compared with the market.
- What the agent does
- The agent asks for the authority scores of your own site and of a handful of players in the same sector.
- Result
- A factual answer instead of a feeling, with the measurement date attached.
Professional services
- Situation
- After a press release somebody wants to know whether it actually led to links.

- The agent retrieves the recent referring links to the page in question.
- Result
- Visible which publications picked it up, without searching by hand.
E-commerce
- Situation
- A category page is losing visits and it is unclear whether visibility is the cause.
- What the agent does
- The agent asks for the keywords that page ranks for and compares with an earlier measurement.
- Result
- A focused follow-up investigation instead of a discussion without facts.
How we set it up
-
1
Connect from the platform
An administrator connects the Ahrefs account from within IntraGPT. Access can be revoked at any moment and nothing changes about the way you use Ahrefs yourselves.
-
2
Agree which markets count
Keywords differ per country. We record which markets are leading for you, so the agent does not accidentally present an American ranking in answer to a Dutch question.
-
3
Ask narrowly, do not sweep
Ahrefs charges credit per request. The agent is therefore set up to ask about one domain or one page per question with a limited number of results, rather than pulling everything in first.
-
4
Decide who may use it
Per connector you set which employees may call on the agent. Every use stays visible in the platform log.
Public data, but not without consequence
SEO figures concern public websites, and yet asking for them reveals what an organisation is working on. So this connector is bounded too.
Where the data lives: Nederland of de EU
Asking only
Through this connector the platform can create or change nothing in your Ahrefs account. Projects, alerts and settings stay out of reach.
The key stays yours
Access belongs to your own Ahrefs account and can be revoked there. IntraGPT stores no password for that account.
Traceable use
Because every request costs credit, it helps that you can see who asked for what. That is in the platform log.
Processing on our own server
The retrieved data is processed on our own server in the Netherlands. It does not go to an external model provider and nothing is trained on it.
Questions about the Ahrefs connector
Can I connect Ahrefs to ChatGPT?
There is no managed connection through which an organisation attaches ChatGPT to an Ahrefs account with roles and a log of what was requested. IntraGPT connects on your own account, read only, and the model runs on our own server. You decide who may use the agent.
Does IntraGPT work with Ahrefs?
Yes, and it is a working integration in use at customers. The agent asks for the authority of a domain, the referring links and the organic keywords per country. Saving reports or setting up projects you do in Ahrefs itself.
Are the Ahrefs figures exact?
No, they are estimates based on their own crawl of the web. For comparisons between domains that is fine, because everyone is measured the same way. For absolute statements it is less suitable. So the agent always states the measurement date.
Can the agent track our own positions?
It can ask for the keywords your site ranks for organically and repeat that at different moments. Setting up a standing position measurement with alerts you do in Ahrefs itself; this connector is for the question of the moment.
Does every question cost us credit?
Yes, Ahrefs charges per request. That is why the agent asks narrow questions about one domain or one page and retrieves a limited number of results. If you want to explore a lot, it is better to plan a fixed session than to ask loose questions all day.
What does an Ahrefs connector cost?
The connector is part of the trajectory we go through together. The work sits in the access, in agreeing which markets count for you and in deciding who may use the agent.
How long does setting it up take?
Connecting is quick. After that it is mostly a matter of agreeing which domains you regard as competitors and which markets are leading, so an answer is usable straight away.
Why do these figures differ from our web statistics?
They measure different things. Ahrefs estimates from a crawl what a site does in search results, including competitors you have no access to. A web statistics connector measures the actual visits to your own site. Use the first to compare and the second to account for results.
