Connecting Pay.nl to AI: payment status without opening the dashboard

Pay.nl can be connected to AI. The assistant looks up the status of a payment, prepares a new payment with a payment link and can set a refund in motion. You enable that last one separately, because refunding cannot be reversed and involves real money.

With a payment provider almost every question comes down to one thing: has this been paid, and if not, why not. Customer service receives an email from someone who says they paid by iDEAL while the order still sits on hold. Finance sees an amount arrive that cannot be matched to an order. In both cases somebody logs in to the Pay.nl dashboard, finds the payment and copies the answer back into a reply. That step can go. Pay.nl is the Dutch payment service that iDEAL and the other methods run through, and a connector lets the assistant look in there itself. It finds a single payment and says whether it succeeded, was cancelled or is still in progress. It can also prepare a payment, so that a payment link appears in the conversation ready to forward. Refunding is possible as well, but it is deliberately the heaviest button in this connector: the assistant first states the amount, the currency and whether the whole sum or only part of it is meant, and does nothing until somebody confirms.

What the assistant does with a payment

Check whether something is paid

You point out the payment in question and the assistant tells you where it stands: succeeded, cancelled, failed or still on its way. That is the answer most questions come down to.

Prepare a payment

The assistant prepares a new payment with the amount, a description and the preferred method, iDEAL for instance. What comes back is a payment link ready to send to the customer.

Refund after confirmation

An approved return or a duplicate payment can go back to the customer. The assistant only sets that in motion once a member of staff has confirmed the payment and the amount, because the step cannot be undone.

Currency and partial amounts stated

For anything that moves money the assistant says explicitly which currency applies and whether the full amount or only part of it is involved. A partial refund is not the same as returning the whole sum.

All in the same conversation

The assistant works in the chat where the colleague is handling the customer. The status, the amount and the payment link appear right there, with no screen switching and no retyping.

Where it saves time in practice

Customer service

Situation
A customer says they have paid, but the order is not yet marked as processed.
What the agent does
The agent puts the payment to the assistant and asks where it stands.
Result
Within seconds it is clear whether the payment or the processing after it is the problem.

Sales

Situation
An order is agreed over the phone and the customer wants to pay straight away.
What the agent does
The assistant prepares a payment with the amount, a description and iDEAL as the method.
Result
The payment link reaches the customer immediately, without anyone clicking through the dashboard.

Finance

Situation
A return has been approved and the amount has to go back to the customer.
What the agent does
The assistant finds the original payment, shows the amount and currency and only starts the refund after approval.
Result
A refund that matches the original payment, with the approval recorded in the log.

E-commerce

Situation
During a peak in orders the questions about outstanding payments pile up.
What the agent does
The assistant answers them payment by payment instead of one colleague looking each one up.
Result
The workload no longer lands on the single person with dashboard access.

From key to first question

  1. 1

A connection to your own account

The connector works with a key that you issue in Pay.nl yourself and can withdraw at any moment. No password is shared and no third party sits in between.

  2. 2

Deciding what the assistant may do

Looking things up is the lightest setting and covers most questions. Preparing payments and refunding are separate choices that you enable deliberately.

  3. 3

    Deciding who may use it

You choose which roles or departments see this assistant. Customer service can look up a payment without that same assistant being able to return money.

  4. 4

    Looking over its shoulder

Every action goes into the log, with what was asked and what came back. We set those choices up together and adjust them when the work changes.

Connected securely

A refund is final

A payment connector is not a read-only one: two of its three actions touch real money and a refund cannot be undone.

Where the data lives: Nederland of de EU

No refund without approval

The assistant never refunds on its own initiative. It repeats which payment, which amount and which currency it is about, and waits for an explicit confirmation from the member of staff.

Access stays yours

The key is issued by you and can be withdrawn by you. From that moment the assistant can do nothing with Pay.nl, without anyone on our side having to act.

Only for the people responsible

You decide which roles may use the payment assistant. An assistant meant for the shop floor simply never sees the option to refund.

On a dedicated server

The model runs on a dedicated server in the Netherlands. Payment data does not go to an American model provider and is never used for training.

Questions about the Pay.nl connector

Can I connect Pay.nl to ChatGPT?

ChatGPT has no built-in connection to Pay.nl, and pasting payment data into a public chatbot is not an option. With IntraGPT you chat in the same way, but with a connector tied to your own account, where you decide per action what is allowed and everything is recorded. Refunding also sits behind a separate choice.

Does IntraGPT work with Pay.nl?

Yes. Pay.nl is in the IntraGPT connector catalogue. The assistant can look up the status of a payment, prepare a new payment with a payment link and set a refund in motion. Which of those three it may do is up to you.

What does a Pay.nl connector cost?

Connecting is part of the project we run together. What determines the work is whether you only want to look things up or also to prepare payments and refund, how many shops or branches take part and which roles may use the assistant. Thirty minutes of conversation makes that concrete.

How long does setup take?

The technical part is a matter of making the connection and choosing the permissions. The lead time is mostly about agreeing who may refund and how you want that confirmation recorded. That is an organisational question rather than a technical one.

Can the AI refund money on its own?

No. Refunding is off by default and you enable it deliberately. When it is on, the assistant first states which payment and which amount it is about, and nothing happens until someone confirms. That confirmation can be found in the log afterwards.

Can it make a partial refund?

Yes, returning part of the amount is possible. That is exactly why the assistant always checks explicitly whether the full amount or only part of it is meant, and names the currency. That distinction has to come from the conversation and never from an assumption.

Can the assistant list all of today's payments?

No, it works payment by payment. You point out which payment is meant, from your order system or from the customer's email for instance, and it looks that one up. For daily overviews and reporting the Pay.nl dashboard remains the place to go.

Which payment methods can the assistant use?

When preparing a payment it can select a method, iDEAL for example. What is possible depends on what you have activated at Pay.nl. Leave the choice open and the customer simply sees the usual selection screen.
