Connecting the Instagram to AI: knowing what a post did without opening the statistics

Instagram can be connected to AI, for business accounts. The assistant looks at the published posts, the figures per post and the account statistics over a period you specify. Publishing is not part of it: the assistant cannot post and cannot schedule, it only reads what is already there.

Reporting on Instagram works the same way in most organisations. Someone opens the statistics, picks a period, notes a few numbers in a spreadsheet and repeats that the following month. It costs an hour, the comparison with the previous period is done by hand, and the question underneath it all, which kind of post actually works for this account, is rarely truly answered. A connector moves that work into a question in the chat. The assistant looks at the posts of the business account, at the reach, impressions and interactions per post, and at the figures for the account as a whole over a period. Two things matter here. Instagram provides these figures only for business accounts linked to a Facebook page; a personal profile does not qualify. And the per post statistics do not reach back indefinitely. That is why the assistant always asks for a concrete period and sets it next to the period before it, so a number means something instead of sitting alone in a report.

What the connector pulls from Instagram

The published posts

The assistant knows the posts of the business account with their text and the moment they went out. That is the basis of every question: first the post in question, then the figures that belong to it.

Figures per post

For a specific post it shows the reach, the impressions and the interactions. That makes clear which post made a difference and which one mostly passed the existing followers by.

Account figures over a period

At account level, reach, impressions and follower numbers can be requested for a period with a start and end date. That compares this month with the last one without anyone retyping numbers.

No publishing, deliberately

This connector cannot post and cannot schedule. For a marketing team that is exactly right: the assistant may know the account figures down to the level of a single post without ever being able to say anything on behalf of the brand.

How teams use the figures

Hospitality

Situation
A chain with several locations wants to know which type of post lands: the dish, the team or the promotion.
What the agent does
The assistant retrieves the posts of the recent period, looks at the interactions per post and groups them by type of content.
Result
A grounded conversation about what to post next month, instead of a hunch from whoever runs the account.

Culture and museums

Situation
After an exhibition the online reach of the campaign has to be accounted for.
What the agent does
The assistant requests the account figures for the run of the exhibition and for the period before it, and picks out the best viewed posts.
Result
An account with comparable periods side by side, produced in a fraction of the time.

HR and recruitment

Situation
The employer branding account posts something every week, but nobody knows whether it has any effect.
What the agent does
The assistant lists the posts of the quarter with their reach and interactions and marks the outliers in both directions.
Result
Clarity on which stories work, so the next vacancy gets announced the right way.

Retail

Situation
The marketer wants a short overview of the weekend every Monday without logging in for it.
What the agent does
A colleague asks in the chat and the assistant retrieves the posts of the past few days with their figures and summarises them.
Result
A fixed weekly picture anyone on the team can request, including people without access to the account.

Connecting the account

  1. 1

A business account on a page

The Instagram account has to be a business account linked to a Facebook page. That is a condition set by Meta, not by us, and without that link no figures become available.

  2. 2

    Connecting through the platform

An administrator connects that account in IntraGPT. Access can be withdrawn at any moment, after which the connector retrieves nothing at all.

  3. 3

    Using the assistant

After that anyone with the right role simply asks in the chat how the past month went or which post worked best. Nobody has to log in to look up a number.

  4. 4

    Traceable who asked what

What was requested and what Instagram returned is recorded in the log. That makes it possible to trace where a number in a report came from.

Connected securely

A social account is a key to the brand

Access to an Instagram account is in practice access to the voice of the organisation. That is why this connector runs one way: looking on is allowed, speaking out is not.

Where the data lives: Nederland of de EU

No way out

The connector only looks on. There is no route by which the assistant posts a message, leaves a comment or changes the profile, not even if someone asks for it.

Access stays yours

Access to the account is not visible to users and is managed by an administrator. It can be withdrawn at Meta itself, after which the connector retrieves nothing.

One account per connector

You connect per business account. If an organisation runs several brands they stay separated, and an assistant only reaches the account you give it.

Processing on our own server

The retrieved figures and texts are processed on our own server in the Netherlands with open-weight models, not at an external model provider, and nothing is trained on them.

Questions about the Instagram connector

Does this work with a personal Instagram account?

No. Instagram only provides these figures for business accounts linked to a Facebook page. A personal profile or a creator account without that link returns no statistics. Switching to a business account is done in the Instagram app itself and takes a few minutes.

Can I connect Instagram to ChatGPT?

There is no built in connector in the public chat services, and access to the business account does not belong in such an environment. In IntraGPT, Instagram sits inside the platform as a connector, with permissions per role and a log, so it is visible who requested which figures.

Does IntraGPT work with Instagram?

Yes. Instagram is in the connector catalogue. The assistant can review the published posts, request the figures of a specific post and retrieve the account statistics for a period. Looking on is all it does.

Can the assistant post or schedule messages itself?

No. This connector cannot publish. That is a deliberate boundary: the account can supply figures to anyone who asks, without anything ever being able to go out on behalf of the brand. Posting stays in the hands of whoever runs the account.

Why are the figures of an old post no longer available?

Because the per post statistics do not reach back indefinitely. For an older post the post itself is often still visible, but the figures that belong to it are not. If you want to keep them, have them captured periodically in an overview of your own, so a comparison remains possible years later.

Are comments and direct messages included?

The connector delivers the posts and their figures, not the conversations underneath or in the inbox. You see how much interaction there was, not what people actually wrote. For answering customer questions a messaging channel is the logical place, not a connector about figures.

Why do no figures come in any more?

Usually access at Meta has to be confirmed again; it does not stay valid forever. Other common causes are an account no longer linked to the Facebook page, or a post for which the requested metric does not exist. In every case the assistant says it received nothing rather than filling in the gap.

What does an Instagram connector cost?

Connecting is part of the project we run together. The work depends on the number of accounts, whether other channels come alongside it and which reporting the team wants to be able to request as standard.

How long does setup take?

If the account is already a business account on a page, connecting is a short job and figures can be requested the same day. If the account still has to be converted and linked to a page, expect an extra step at Meta before data comes back.
