Connect Google Sheets to AI: keep the spreadsheet current without retyping
Google Sheets can be connected to AI. The assistant reads the tab and the part of the table you point it to, and can add a row there. Updating or clearing existing cells is possible too, but that touches what is already there: those actions happen only on explicit request and after it has shown which part it wants to change. Adding at the bottom is safe, because existing rows stay untouched.
Reading and writing in a spreadsheet
Read part of a sheet
You state which tab and which part of the table you mean, and the assistant reads exactly that. It does not pull in the whole file, so an answer stays fast and covers the right rows.
The header row first
Before the assistant says or writes anything, it looks at the column headers. That tells it which column holds the amount, which the date and which the status, even when the order differs from what you expect.
Add a row at the bottom
New lines land underneath the existing ones. This is the safe side of writing: nothing gets lost and whatever was already there stays untouched.
Update existing cells
The assistant can replace values in an existing part of the table, a status or a date for instance. What was there is overwritten, so it first shows what it is about to change and only does it on request.
Clear a section
A part of the sheet can be emptied. That is final for whoever opens the sheet next, so like updating this calls for an explicit request and a check of exactly what disappears.
Amounts and dates as they stand
Values come back the way the sheet formats them. The assistant does not blindly calculate with them but shows what is there, so a formatting difference does not put a wrong figure in an answer.

Grant consent
You give IntraGPT access to the sheets that may be included, and can withdraw that consent yourself. Sheets left out stay out of view.

You decide how far the assistant may go: reading only, or adding at the bottom as well, or on top of that updating and clearing existing cells. What is off, it cannot do.

The tab and the part of the table the question is about, starting at the header row. Not the whole file and none of the sheets outside the agreed set.

What gets recorded
Every question and every change lands in the log, with the sheet and the part that was touched. That shows who had what changed.
Overwriting cannot be undone
A spreadsheet is usually open to a whole department, and one wrongly edited row is only noticed days later. That is why the difference between adding and overwriting is built into the connector.

Adding and changing are separate
Adding at the bottom touches nothing that was already there. Updating and clearing are separate options you enable on their own, and the assistant uses them only on explicit request.
Consent you grant
The connection runs on consent you grant yourself and can withdraw yourself. After that the assistant cannot open a single sheet.
Decided per role
You record which roles may work with this assistant. A sheet with personnel data does not belong to an assistant that is available to the whole organisation.
On your own server
The model runs on our own server in the Netherlands. The figures from your sheets are not sent to an American model provider and are never used for training.
Questions about Google Sheets and the assistant
Can I connect Google Sheets to ChatGPT?
You can paste an export into ChatGPT, but then you work with a snapshot and your data sits in a public service. IntraGPT works with the sheet itself, on consent you grant and withdraw yourself, with write rights you enable separately and a model on its own server.
Does IntraGPT work with Google Sheets?
Yes. Google Sheets is one of the systems IntraGPT connects as standard: reading part of a tab, adding a row to it and updating or clearing existing cells.
Can the assistant overwrite our figures by accident?
Adding happens at the bottom and does not touch existing rows. Updating and clearing are separate options you can leave switched off. With them on, the assistant first shows which part of the sheet it wants to change and waits for approval. The log afterwards shows what was changed.
What happens if somebody moves or adds a column?
The assistant looks at the header row first and works out from there what each column means. If the order changes, it follows the headers rather than a position it once memorised. It does help if the header row is clear and no two columns are named almost the same.
Why does the assistant report amounts as they stand in the sheet?
Because what a sheet displays can differ from the underlying value: an amount with a currency symbol, a date in its own notation, a number stored as text. The assistant shows what is there instead of calculating blindly with it. If you want a calculation, ask for it explicitly and you also see which rows it used.
Can we keep a sheet read-only?
Yes. Many organisations start that way: the assistant may read everything and change nothing. That is enough for questions about what the sheet contains. Later you can decide per sheet whether adding or updating may be added.
What does a Google Sheets connector cost?
Connecting is part of the project we run together. What drives the work is the number of sheets, whether writing is allowed next to reading and how tidily the sheets are built. A spreadsheet with a clear header row is usable sooner than one full of merged cells.
How long does setup take?
Switching it on takes minutes once it is clear which sheets are included and who may grant the consent. The lead time usually sits in agreeing whether the assistant may write and who is allowed to ask for that.
