Connect BambooHR to AI: who is off today, without opening the HR system
BambooHR can be connected to AI, and the connector only reads. In one question the assistant can say who is away in the coming period, who is employed, what is on record for a single employee and which leave requests fall within a period. It cannot change anything: submitting leave, approving it or updating a detail stays in BambooHR itself.
What the assistant retrieves from BambooHR
Who is away in the coming period
Name a period and the assistant says who is absent on those days. That is the direct answer to who is off today, without anyone having to walk through a pile of requests first.
Who is employed
The assistant consults the employee list as BambooHR shows it, with details such as name, job title and department. Useful for working out who belongs to which team or who is the right person for a question.
What is on record for one employee
For a single employee the assistant retrieves only the detail the question is about. Ask about a start date and the start date comes back, not the whole personnel file.
Leave requests over a period
The assistant lays out the requests within a period, with the type of leave and the status. You see in one go what has been requested, what is approved and what is still waiting for a decision.
Retrieval only, no changes
The connector reads. There is no way to submit a request, change a status or update a field, so nothing in BambooHR ever changes because of the assistant.
Your own environment
The connector works with your own BambooHR and not with a copy of it. Whatever was changed there this morning is therefore part of the answer this afternoon.

Connecting to your BambooHR
The connector is switched on in IntraGPT and linked to your own BambooHR with a key you issue there yourself. Nothing else has to be changed inside BambooHR.

Rights and roles
The connector sees no more than the employee it was created under is allowed to see. On top of that you decide in IntraGPT which roles may use the HR assistant, so not everyone can ask the same questions.

What the assistant can and cannot do
It can retrieve, it cannot change. Which of the four kinds of questions take part is your choice. If you only want the absence question answered, employee details stay outside the connector.

What gets recorded
Every question lands in the log with its outcome. For a question about one person you can therefore see who asked it and what it covered, which is no luxury where personnel data is concerned.
Personnel data: only what the question needs
Besides job title and department, BambooHR holds more sensitive material such as contract and salary details. An AI connector on such a system should therefore not be able to do a lot, but should give back very little.

No more than the question requires
The assistant retrieves the detail the question is about, not the complete file. A question about a work anniversary returns that date, not a summary of somebody's terms of employment.
Who may use the HR assistant
You decide which roles get access. An assistant for the whole organisation can then only say who is away, while an assistant for HR is allowed to look further.
Every question can be traced
What was asked and by whom sits in the log. A question about a colleague can therefore be accounted for afterwards, which is exactly what a data protection officer wants to be able to see.
On our own server
The model runs on our own server in the Netherlands. Employee data is not sent to an American model provider and is never used to train a model.
Questions about the BambooHR connector
Can I connect BambooHR to ChatGPT?
ChatGPT has no connection to BambooHR, and personnel data does not belong in a public chatbot. With IntraGPT you ask the same questions, but through a connector that only reads, gives back no more than the question needs and records who asked for what.
Does IntraGPT work with BambooHR?
Yes. BambooHR is one of the connectors IntraGPT supports as standard: who is away, who is employed, what is on record for an employee and which leave requests fall in a period. All of it read-only.
Can the assistant request or approve leave in BambooHR?
No. This connector is read-only: every question retrieves data and nothing writes anything back. Submitting a request, approving it or changing a detail therefore stays in BambooHR itself. The assistant can show what has been requested and where it stands, so whoever has to decide does not have to go looking.
Does the assistant see salary and contract details as well?
Only if the access being used is allowed to see them anyway and somebody asks for them explicitly. In practice we set the connector up so that it sees exactly enough for the questions you want answered. If salary details have to stay out of reach entirely, we exclude them during setup.
Could an employee use it to look up details about colleagues?
That is up to you and the roles. An assistant for the whole organisation can say who is off this week, because that is company information, but not who holds which contract. An HR assistant may do more and is opened only to the people whose job requires it. On top of that, the assistant never shares somebody else's details unasked.
Does it keep working when the administrator leaves?
That is worth thinking about up front. The access the connector uses belongs to an account in BambooHR, so if that account is closed the connector stops. Put it on an account that belongs to a function rather than to one person and the assistant keeps working through a staff change.
What does a BambooHR connector cost?
The connector is part of the project we run together. What drives the work is which questions you want answered, how far the access may reach and which roles in IntraGPT may use the HR assistant.
How long does setup take?
The connection is made quickly and can be tested the same day. The lead time sits in the choices around it: which access the connector runs on and who may use the assistant. Start with the absence question; in practice that immediately removes the bulk of the question traffic.
