Connecting Zendesk to AI: knowing what is open without scrolling through views
Zendesk can be connected to AI. The assistant searches for tickets, users and organisations, reads status and priority, creates a ticket and updates status or assignment. Replying is possible as a public reply, which the customer receives by email, or as an internal note for colleagues. A public reply only goes out on explicit request and only after the text has been shown.
What the assistant does in Zendesk
Searching instead of browsing
The assistant searches tickets, users and organisations the way Zendesk searches: combining status, requester, organisation and period. That returns a handful of relevant tickets instead of a list to wade through.
Summarising the queue
From the tickets it finds it builds an overview: what is new, what is open, where the team is waiting on the customer and what is on hold. That is the answer most team meetings start with.
Creating a ticket
When a question arrives by phone or through a colleague, the assistant can turn it into a ticket with a clean description. That way the question does not disappear outside the system.
Updating status, priority and assignment
A Zendesk ticket runs from new and open through pending and on hold to solved and closed. The assistant can make that move, adjust the priority or assign the ticket to a colleague. Solved reads as a closure to the customer, so it never does that unprompted.
Public reply or internal note
Replying works in two ways, and the difference is large. Public means the customer receives the text by email. Internal means only colleagues see it in the ticket. The assistant names which of the two it is about to post.
Where this saves a service team time
Customer service
- Situation
- A customer calls while three of their tickets are open, spread across two colleagues.
- What the agent does
- The assistant finds this requester's tickets, reads the latest reply on each and summarises what still has to happen per ticket.
- Result
- The person on the phone has the full picture before the conversation gets going.
Retail
- Situation
- After a promotional week a pile of tickets sits waiting and nobody knows what exactly the team is waiting for.
- What the agent does
- The assistant gathers those tickets, groups them by subject and picks out the cases where the last reply came from the team rather than the customer.
- Result
- A short list of what is genuinely stuck, instead of a view everyone scrolls past.
Software company
- Situation
- Support and development disagree about how often a particular error message comes up.
- What the agent does
- The assistant searches for the text of that message across a period and lines up the hits with their priority.
- Result
- A factual picture straight out of Zendesk, without anyone having to build an export.
Team leads
- Situation
- A team lead preparing a handover wants to know which tickets have been on hold for too long.
- What the agent does
- The assistant gathers those tickets and proposes an internal note for each with the question that needs answering.
- Result
- The queue gets cleaned up without anything reaching customers that nobody has read.
How it works
-
1
Connecting in the platform
An administrator records access to your Zendesk environment in IntraGPT once. If that access is withdrawn later, the connector stops immediately.
-
2
Setting permissions
You decide which actions the assistant may perform and which roles may use it. Looking only is a valid choice, and for many teams the first step.
-
3
Using the assistant
After that you ask your question in plain language, in the chat or from an agent that knows other sources too. The assistant pulls in what it needs and shows where the answer came from.

Visible in the log
What the assistant retrieved or changed in Zendesk is recorded in the log. For a posted reply you can trace when it happened and at whose request.
A reply in a ticket is a message to a customer
Zendesk holds customer data, complaints and sometimes attachments with sensitive contents. And whatever appears in a ticket can end up outside the team.
Where the data lives: Nederland of de EU
Public really is public
A public reply goes to the customer by email and cannot be pulled back. The assistant shows the text and states that it is a public reply before posting it.
Who may use the assistant
You decide per role who may call it and what it may do. An assistant that can close tickets does not belong with everyone in the organisation.
Everything can be reviewed
Every retrieval and every change is recorded in the log. That makes it possible to account afterwards for what was looked up and what was changed.
The model runs on your side
Ticket contents are processed on our own server in the Netherlands with open-weight models. That content does not go to an external model provider and is not used for training.
Questions about the Zendesk connector
Can I connect Zendesk to ChatGPT?
For a service team that is hard to justify. You would give a public service access to a system full of customer data, without roles and without a log of what was looked up. IntraGPT connects your own Zendesk environment, with permissions you set yourself, and processes the contents on our own server.
Does IntraGPT work with Zendesk?
Yes. Zendesk is in the connector catalogue and in use at customers. The assistant can search, retrieve and create tickets, update status and assignment and post a reply or a note. Which of those are switched on is up to you.
What is the difference between a public reply and an internal note?
A public reply appears in the ticket and is emailed to the customer. An internal note stays inside the team and is invisible to the customer. That difference is the most important thing you agree on with this connector. The assistant always names which of the two it is about to post and waits for approval on a public reply.
May the assistant set a ticket to solved?
It can, but solved reads as a closure to the customer, and many teams attach automatic messages and satisfaction surveys to it. We set that step to ask for confirmation by default. You can also switch it off entirely and let the assistant only propose what should happen.
Does the assistant see every ticket?
It sees what the connected access is allowed to see, no more. If you work with several brands or groups, that boundary can be carried into the connector. And it does not pull everything: it searches specifically for the question someone asked.
Is our ticket content used to train a model?
No. Processing happens on our own server with open-weight models, the content does not go to an external model provider and it is not used to train models. That is one of the reasons organisations holding a lot of customer data choose this setup.
What does a Zendesk connector cost?
Connecting is part of the project we run together. What drives the work is whether the assistant may only look or also update and reply, how many Zendesk environments are involved, and which roles may use it.
How long does setup take?
The connection itself is a short action for an administrator and can be tested the same day. The lead time sits in the agreements around it: which tickets the assistant may see, who may have a public reply posted and what tone belongs with it.
