Connecting Microsoft Teams to AI: an assistant that posts in the right channel
Microsoft Teams can be connected to AI. The assistant finds the team and the channel you mean, posts a message there on request, and can set up an online meeting with a join link it passes straight on. A channel message is visible to everyone in that channel, so it posts only on explicit request and says up front where it is putting things.
What the assistant does in Teams
Find the right team
The assistant knows which teams you work in and picks the one that matches your question. If it hesitates between two teams with similar names, it puts the choice to you.
Pick the right channel
Within that team it looks for the channel where the message belongs. If the channel you name does not exist, it says so instead of putting the message somewhere else.
Post a message in a channel
The assistant posts a message visible to every member of that channel. It names the team and the channel and shows the text before it does.
Set up an online meeting
With a subject, a time and the participants it sets up a Teams meeting and passes on the join link, ready to drop into the message or the email.

Connect inside your own environment
An administrator grants the connector consent inside your own Microsoft 365 environment and can withdraw that consent later. Nothing runs outside your tenant.

Decide where the assistant may go
The teams in view are the teams the connector has been given access to. Keep that as small as the work allows: a service desk assistant does not need to reach the executive team.

Search first, post later
Finding teams and channels is harmless, posting is not. Many organisations start with searching only and switch on posting once it is clear who may ask for it.

Use the assistant
After that a colleague simply asks for a message or a meeting. The assistant names the channel, shows the text and posts once approved; every post is recorded in the log.
A channel message is never private
Whatever goes into a Teams channel is read by everyone in it, including the people you were not thinking of. That is why posting here is a deliberate act with a check in front of it.

Visible to the whole channel
The assistant says which team and which channel it is about to post in and shows the text. Only after approval does it place the message.
No further than the access reaches
The connector does not enter teams it has not been given access to. Whatever sits there is invisible to the assistant and cannot be used.
Traceable in the log
For every posted message you can see which channel it went to, when it appeared and at whose request. That is exactly the question asked afterwards.
The content stays with you
Summarising and drafting happen on your own server in the Netherlands with open-weight models. Your conversations are not used to train models.
Questions about the Teams connector
Can I connect Microsoft Teams to ChatGPT?
For an organisation that is an awkward route: you would give a public service write access to channels holding internal coordination, without roles and without an audit log. IntraGPT works inside your own Microsoft 365 environment, with teams you determine yourself and a log entry per post.
Does IntraGPT work with Microsoft Teams?
Yes. Teams is in the connector catalogue. The assistant finds the right team and channel, posts a message there and can set up an online meeting with a join link.
Why does the assistant name the channel before posting?
Because a message in the wrong channel cannot be undone before everyone has seen it. Teams often have channels with near identical names, and the name used in conversation is not always the official one. By saying the team and the channel out loud, it gives you the chance to correct it before anything appears.
Can the assistant send messages in a private chat?
No. This connector works on channels within teams, not on users' personal chats. If you want to reach someone personally, email or one of the other channels is the way to go.
Does the assistant read along in our channels?
This connector exists to post something and to set up a meeting, not to follow conversations. It does not go through the messages in a channel. If you want the assistant to draw on internal information, that runs through the knowledge base or a document connector, where you decide per source what goes in.
Is this the same as a calendar connector?
No. Setting up a meeting produces a join link, but it is not calendar management. Checking when someone is free, calculating open slots or moving an appointment is what the Outlook calendar or Google Calendar connector is for. The assistant checks availability there and uses Teams for the meeting link itself.
What does a Teams connector cost?
Connecting it is part of the project we run together. What drives the work is which teams and channels come into view, whether the assistant may post or only search, and whether a source is attached that supplies the content of the messages.
How long does setup take?
The consent is a short action for an administrator. After that the connector can be tested the same day with a message in a test channel. The lead time goes mainly into agreeing which channels are open and who may have things posted.
