Connecting Discord to AI: reading and replying in a community without missing the tone
Discord can be connected to AI. The assistant finds the channels of your server, reads the recent messages in a channel and posts there on request. A message in a Discord channel is visible to everyone in it, often hundreds of people, so posting happens only on explicit request and with the channel named.

The assistant retrieves which channels exist in your server, so it knows where to go when you name a channel or only describe a subject.
Read recent messages
From a channel it collects the latest messages, with the option to look further back. That makes a channel summarisable without anyone scrolling through hundreds of lines.
Post a message
On request the assistant posts a message in a channel you point to. It names the channel first and shows the text, because everyone in that channel sees it immediately.
Take the surrounding messages along
Discord messages are short and often lack context. The assistant therefore reads what sits around them before concluding anything, rather than pulling one line out of shape.

The connector works with a bot you add to the server yourself. An administrator decides which channels that bot may enter and can remove it again in one action.

Set the permissions
Inside Discord you give the bot access only to the channels it has business in, and inside IntraGPT you decide which roles may use it. Together those two form the boundary.

Start with reading
Reading and summarising delivers value immediately and changes nothing on the server. Many administrators stay there for a few weeks and only then switch on posting.

The bot does not enter channels it has not been given access to. A closed moderator channel therefore stays out of view if you set it up that way.

Questions about the Discord connector
Can I connect Discord to ChatGPT?
There are bots that look like it, but they place a public service in a channel where your community talks, without roles, without boundaries and without an audit log. IntraGPT works with a bot you manage yourself, in the channels you point to, and with a model running on your own server.
Does IntraGPT work with Discord?

What is the difference with Slack or Teams?
Slack and Teams are internal work environments holding colleagues. A Discord server is often a community with people from outside: customers, users, members. That changes the tone and the risk. What is an internal note in Teams is a public statement on Discord, and that is exactly why the assistant is set up more cautiously here.
Why does the assistant read the surrounding messages first?
Because a single Discord message rarely stands alone. People type in half sentences, reply three messages later and use irony without flagging it. Read one line and you easily draw the wrong conclusion. By taking the conversation around it into account, the assistant lands on an answer that fits the context.
Can the assistant send direct messages to members?
No. This connector works on channels, not on personal messages. That is a deliberate boundary: a bot that messages members unprompted is exactly the behaviour communities dislike.
Does the assistant read everything in our server?
Only what you let it see. It retrieves messages from the channel the question is about, not from the whole server, and it does not enter channels the bot has no access to. Moderator channels are therefore easy to keep out of view.
What does a Discord connector cost?
Connecting it is part of the project we run together. What drives the work is the number of channels in view, whether the assistant may post or only read, and whether an internal source is attached that the answers come from.
How long does setup take?
Adding the bot to the server and assigning the channels is administrator work and takes little time. Summarising can be tested the same day. The lead time goes into agreeing the tone: a community notices instantly when something is posted that does not fit the group.
