Connecting Vercel to AI: is the site broken or is the previous version still running

Vercel can be connected to AI. The assistant retrieves the projects, reads the recent deployments with their status and can pull up one deployment in detail. It is a read only connection: deploying, rolling back or changing anything is out of reach, it only tells you where things stand.

Vercel belongs to the category of tooling you only look at when something is off. The site is not doing what people expect, somebody asks in a group chat whether anything was just released, and then somebody has to log in and check. That is rarely the person who asked. A marketeer waiting for a new landing page, a support agent handling a customer report, a project lead who wants to know whether this afternoon's release went through: they all have the same question and none of them have access. This connection makes that question answerable in the chat. The assistant knows the projects in the account, retrieves the recent deployments and reads their status. Vercel uses four words for that: BUILDING while the build runs, READY when it succeeded, ERROR when it failed and CANCELED when it was stopped. If the most recent deployment sits at ERROR, that means something specific: the new version is not live, but the previous one is still serving perfectly well. The site is not broken, it is simply not updated. That distinction saves a lot of unnecessary panic, and it is exactly the nuance that disappears when somebody forwards a red dot and nothing else.

What the assistant reads from Vercel

Ask for the projects

The assistant retrieves the projects in the account or the team and can search them by name. Useful when there are dozens of projects and nobody quite remembers the name that one site sits under.

Recent deployments

Per project the recent deployments come back with their status. In one answer you see whether anything went out today and whether it worked, without logging in yourself.

One deployment in detail

The assistant pulls up the details of a specific deployment. That shows when it started, what state it ended in and which deployment belongs to which moment.

Looking and nothing else

The connection can only look. Deploying, rolling back, changing a project or adjusting settings is not part of it. Whatever the assistant is asked, it cannot touch the production environment.

Preview next to production

Every deployment has its own preview address, separate from the production address. The assistant keeps those two apart, so no preview link gets passed around as if it were the live site.

Where this brings calm around a release

Marketing

Situation
A new campaign page was supposed to go live this morning, but nothing on the site has changed.
What the agent does
The assistant looks up the project and retrieves the latest deployments with their status.
Result
Immediately clear whether the build failed or whether nothing was released at all, without pulling someone out of a meeting.

Customer service

Situation
A customer reports that a form on the website has not worked since yesterday.
What the agent does
The assistant checks whether there was a deployment yesterday and what state it ended in.
Result
A first answer with a timestamp attached, which sends the report to the team in a far more targeted way.

Project management

Situation
Before handover it has to be established that the agreed version is really the one running.
What the agent does
The assistant retrieves the last successful deployment of the project and names the moment it finished.
Result
A checkable statement instead of an assumption based on a screenshot.

Software team

Situation
Several previews are open and nobody remembers which one belongs to which branch.
What the agent does
The assistant retrieves the deployments of the project and adds the matching preview address to each one.
Result
The right link reaches the reviewer, instead of three links of which two are out of date.

How you switch it on

  1. 1

    Connecting from the platform

You grant access from your own Vercel account and store it once in IntraGPT. If the sites sit under a team, say which team, otherwise the connection only sees the personal projects.

  2. 2

    Read rights are enough

Because the connection changes nothing, you can grant the narrowest access there is. That is the best protection available: what is not permitted cannot happen by accident either.

  3. 3

    Who may use the assistant

In IntraGPT you decide which roles see this assistant. In practice organisations open it up widely, because nothing can break and the question about the state of a site comes from everywhere.

  4. 4

    What gets recorded

Every use of the connection lands in the IntraGPT log. That keeps it visible which question retrieved which data, even when nothing else changed.

Connected securely

A connection that cannot break anything by definition

The security question around a hosting platform is usually what could go wrong if a model misunderstands something. Here the answer is short, because there is nothing to write.

Where the data lives: Nederland of de EU

Looking only

The connection only retrieves information. There is no route along which the assistant could start or undo a deployment, however the question is phrased.

Access you withdraw

The access comes from your own Vercel account and can be withdrawn there in a single step. IntraGPT keeps no Vercel credentials.

Traceable

What the assistant retrieved sits in the log, including the project. If a claim from a conversation is questioned later, it can be found.

Answers from home soil

The model runs on our own server in the Netherlands. Project names, addresses and build results do not travel to an American model vendor and are not used for training.

Questions about the Vercel connector

Can the assistant deploy or roll back?

No. The connection only looks: projects, recent deployments and one deployment in detail. Deploying, rolling back and changing settings are not part of it and cannot come out of it by accident either.

Does IntraGPT work with Vercel?

Yes. Vercel is in the IntraGPT connector catalogue. The assistant asks for the projects, reads the recent deployments with their status and pulls up one in detail when you want it.

What does the status ERROR actually mean?

That the build of that deployment failed. The new version is not live; the last successful deployment keeps serving. So the site usually works fine, it just is not updated. That is an important difference when an incident is reported.

Can I connect Vercel to ChatGPT?

ChatGPT cannot reach your Vercel account. With IntraGPT you ask the same question in a chat, but with access you grant yourself and a connection that only reads. On top of that the rest of your knowledge sits in the same environment, so the answer can be placed next to other information right away.

Does the assistant see the build logs as well?

No. The connection gives the status and the details of a deployment, not the build output line by line. If you want to know why a build failed, somebody looks that up in Vercel itself.

Does it work with a team account?

Yes, as long as it is clear during setup which team is meant. If that is skipped, the connection only looks at personal projects and it seems as if there are no projects at all.

What does a Vercel connector cost?

Connecting is part of the track we go through together, not a separate line item. What drives the work is how many sources are added and who gets to use the assistant. We lay that out in a thirty minute conversation.

How long does setup take?

Once the access is arranged and the team is clear, it is switched on in minutes. Because no write rights are needed, internal approval tends to be quicker here than with other connectors.
