Connect Linear to AI: your team issue list in plain language
Linear can be connected to AI. The assistant looks up issues inside the team you name, checks their status and their priority, and tells you what is open. On explicit request it creates an issue or moves one along, from todo to in progress for instance. What it may see, and whether it may write at all, is yours to decide.
What the assistant checks for you in Linear
Look up a team issues
You name the team and the assistant reports what is open there. It follows the statuses Linear uses, from backlog and todo through in progress to done or canceled, and keeps to what the question is about.
Taking priority into account
Every issue carries a priority, from none to urgent. Ask what is urgent and the assistant looks at that field rather than at a word in the title. That avoids the misunderstandings you get from searching on text.
Create an issue
When a bug or a task surfaces in a conversation, the assistant can turn it into an issue in the right team, with a title and a description. The whole team sees that issue, so it only acts once you have approved.
Move an issue along
An existing issue can go to a next status, from todo to in progress or to done. The assistant first says which issue it means and where it intends to put it, so nothing shifts unnoticed.
Check projects and cycles
Besides individual issues, the assistant looks at what sits in the current cycle and which issues belong to a project. Useful when someone wants to know whether something is still feasible this cycle without opening the roadmap.
Where a development team notices this
Support
- Situation
- A customer reports that a fault is back and support wants to know whether an issue already exists for it.
- What the agent does
- The assistant checks the relevant team for anything open on this subject and reports the status.
- Result
- Support answers the customer directly instead of pulling a developer out of their work.
Product management
- Situation
- Halfway through the cycle it has to be clear what is still open and what has been marked urgent.
- What the agent does
- The assistant goes through the issues of the current cycle and orders them by priority and status.
- Result
- A status overview inside the conversation, where following up on a single issue is one question away.
Customer contact
- Situation
- A conversation with a user surfaces a concrete bug that nobody has recorded yet.
- What the agent does
- The assistant proposes an issue with a title, a description and a team, and records it only after the employee agrees.
- Result
- The report lands with the right team, in the same shape as the rest of the backlog.
Engineering
- Situation
- At the end of the week the team lead wants to know which issues were completed and which stayed put.
- What the agent does
- The assistant puts what reached done this week next to what is still in progress.
- Result
- A weekly picture without building a report or a board for it.
From connection to first answer
-
1
Switch the connector on
You enable Linear inside IntraGPT and grant the connector the access Linear issues for it. You give that access yourself and you can withdraw it at any moment.
-
2
Decide who may use it
Per assistant and per role you record who may work with Linear. An assistant built for the commercial side is simply never offered the issue list.
-
3
Set the boundary
The connector reaches no further than the teams the granted access covers. Within that boundary the assistant retrieves only what the question needs, not the whole workspace.
-
4
Reading or writing too
By default the assistant only looks. If you want it to create or move issues as well, that is enabled separately, and every change appears in the log.
A backlog says more than you think
The issue list of a product team holds open vulnerabilities, customer names and plans that have not gone public yet. That is why the connector is tightly bounded.
Where the data lives: Nederland of de EU
Access stays yours
You grant the access to Linear yourself and you withdraw it yourself. Do that and the connector stops working immediately, with nothing left to retrieve.
Not every assistant gets access
You decide which roles may use the Linear connector. Anyone who does not need it does not even see in their chat that it exists.
Every action appears in the log
What was retrieved and what was recorded ends up in the log. If an issue was created or moved, it is traceable when that happened and at whose request.
On our own server
The model runs on our own server in the Netherlands. The content of your backlog does not go to an American model provider and is never used for training.
Questions about Linear and AI
Can I connect Linear to ChatGPT?
ChatGPT has no built-in connection to Linear. You can paste individual issues into it, but then the work stays manual and the content of your backlog sits with a public service. With IntraGPT you ask the same questions in a chat, but through a connector tied to your own access, with every action recorded.
Does IntraGPT work with Linear?
Yes. Linear is in the IntraGPT connector catalogue and is in use at customers. Issues, teams, projects and cycles can be consulted through it, and on request the assistant can record something in it as well.
Does the assistant see our whole workspace or only certain teams?
You decide. The connector reaches no further than the teams the granted access covers. If several teams share one workspace and you want to open up only a few, we set it up so the assistant does not even see the rest. That matters most when one team handles customer-sensitive reports.
Can the assistant create or move issues on its own?
Only if you switch that on. With it on, it creates something only after showing which title, description and team it intends to use. A new issue simply appears in that team list and can trigger notifications, so that step is there on purpose. If you would rather avoid it, you leave the connector on reading only.
Does it keep working when someone leaves the company?
That depends on whose account the access was granted under. If it hangs off a person who leaves, the connector falls silent the moment that account is closed. We therefore advise granting the access from an account that belongs to the team rather than to one employee, so a departure does not cause an outage.
Can we withdraw the connector again?
Yes, and from both sides. In IntraGPT you switch the connector off, and in Linear you withdraw the access you granted. Either works immediately: after that the assistant can no longer retrieve or record anything. What was done until then stays in the log.
What does a Linear connector cost?
The connecting itself is part of the track we go through together. What determines the work is how many teams are opened up, whether the assistant may only look or also record, and which roles are allowed to use it. A short conversation makes that concrete.
How long does setup take?
Switching it on is a matter of minutes. The time usually goes into agreeing which teams take part and whether recording is allowed. After that comes a short round in which we sharpen the answers around the way your teams name their issues.
